Today we had the huge privilege of Microsoft legend Scott Guthrie (aka Scott Gu) showcasing the launch of the new Windows 8 All Blacks app during his TechEd NZ keynote.
The new Win8 app is part of an ongoing collaboration between Provoke and NZ Rugby to extend their digital platforms, and also includes Windows Phone apps, and the migration of allbacks.com to the Windows Azure cloud platform. This v1.0 release, accelerated for launch at Tech Ed, is designed to showcase the reach that Windows 8 delivers as a platform.
"This is a really exciting project for us, says Provoke Account Manager Raewyn Walker. One of NZ Rugby's strategic objectives is to use digital media to connect with their growing and increasingly-international fan base. With over 110m worldwide Windows 8 users, we're really focused on proving the power of the platform to deliver an awesome online experience and help the AB's engage with their fans. This first version is a great start and we've got a pipeline full of exciting future enhancements"
"The Windows 8 platform offers unique opportunities to not only connect the All Blacks with their fans, but also the fans with each other. The scope to deliver really rich content to an eager audience is also huge. We're working hard with NZ Rugby to bring these exciting enhancements to market as soon as possible" says Walker.
The app is available for download from the Windows 8 marketplace
