Marram

Making it simple to book holiday homes from mobile devices.

The Challenge

The Marram Trust provides holiday homes all over New Zealand to employees of affiliated organisations. Members can browse hundreds of holiday homes and houses, check available dates, then book their accommodation online. The website however, was difficult to use on mobile devices. Marram wanted to provide an easy to use booking engine similar to that of other major accommodation booking services.

The Approach

Provoke began by completing an in-depth consultation to understand Marram’s business objectives. This information was used along with process mapping to determine the requirements for a mobile booking solution. Visual designs were completed and Provoke ran usability testing with the client through interactive prototypes.

The Outcome

A mobile version of the website was created, taking into consideration the functions that are most important to users when booking holiday homes. The mobile-optimised site made searching and viewing different homes simple and checking for availability very clear. In the time that the solution has gone live, Marram has seen 35% of user sessions and 22% of all bookings come through mobile.

We agonized for 18 months over whether to do an app or mobile version of the website. Provoke steered us through this towards a mobile version and right throughout the whole process made it an incredibly easy process. The support and communication throughout was fantastic.

Technology

The mobile solution for Marram was built on Bootstrap 4 Angular 2 and utilises LESS CSS. API links into their existing databases connect to the backend CRM. Redirects are in place to take members to the mobile website.
